The year is ending

Oops, I haven't been keeping up with my blog. I have had a fairly busy couple of weeks. Christmas was nice. Spent the day with 2-sets of friends. Ate and drank too much. Had way too much wine and champagne and felt it the next day!

Have had several sets of wonderful couples at the adobe for anniversaries and as XMAS presents.

Today I took the day off and went to my favorite place, Ojo Caliente for the day. I ran into some old clients there. Small world.

Tomorrow is NYE. I have had a good 2009 and can't wait for an even better 2010! Thank you to all of my guests for making Your Private Adobe the special place it is.

Sometimes I need a day or two off to run errands, pay bills, clean the house, do paperwork and to rest my hands and body. This was my weekend. I went to a very fun holiday party on Saturday night. It was interesting how we all came together with such diverse backgrounds. I laughed so hard I cried at the White Elephant Gift Exchange. I think I even made some new friends, and maybe a new client or two! Today I am nursing a dear female friend after her surgery. She will spend the night healing at Your Private Adobe. It gave me another idea of income. Your Private Adobe, a place of respite to spend a day or two recovering and healing from minor surgeries.

Albuquerque's Decadent Day Spa

A member of my TNT Networking Group's husband bought her a Your Private Adobe Gift Certificate for her birthday in October. She had bought him a certificate for his birthday last summer. She just got around to using hers. She loves her wine and toted a bottle in hand to the adobe. She has been too numerous spas throughout the country and on her travels abroad. She raved about Your Private Adobe and promised to tell everyone she knows about the location, the service, the massage and the amenities. She commented she was in and out of a state of consciousness throughout. She loved it while being wrapped like a cocoon in a peppermint, cocoa, and coffee combination scrub and body mud. She was nearly asleep when I leaned over and said" would you like wine or water through a straw"? She burst into laughs! How decadent is that? To be a your private spa and sip wine out of a straw while being wrapped in such aromatic and cooling products? The entire room oozed of these awesome smells! I have to be careful and not use to much peppermint in the winter. It does give you a cooling effect and makes your skin feel alive! If too much is used, you do feel a bit chilly. But then you can sit in the outdoor hot tub to warm back up. It was a beautiful watermelon colored sunset as she relaxed outside, sipping on more wine and warming up in the tub. She plans to return as a couple for her anniversary in March! But I have a feeling they both may become "Club Adobe" Monthly Members.

Hedonist visits Your Private Adobe Day Spa in Albuquerque

In eight years of giving massages, the holidays have historically been my busiest. Since I tend to provide more relaxation and pleasure, many of my guests like to treat themselves over the holiday season. Most of my business this week has been returning friends. It's wonderful for them to visit Your Private Adobe again and again and try more of my exotic treatments once they get comfortable with me. It's amazing to see the transformation in men's skin after the exfoliation, oil treatments and body wraps. It's so noticeable! With women, I don't notice so much as their skin is generally more soft. One of my clients is a pure hedonist! He absolutely loved the Pizhichill package! I could have poured hot oil over him all day long and it not been enough. hehe The Pizhichill is definitely for those who enjoy intense pleasure! He was one of the one's who I could see a distinct difference in his skin. He was here for hours and a little light headed so I gave him a snack of Acai Berry juice, cheese and crackers. He's another client who said he never visits the same place twice!

I had another client today get light headed during the massage. I swear, I think people get so busy they forget to eat. Massage can lower your blood pressure and sugar levels, so it's important to have eaten within a couple of hours of body work. But don't come see me on a full tummy either!

I put out the word, I was looking for an angel investor for my B&B. But no one is answering my prayers! So the reality is I don't have the funds necessary, nor the credit scores to get this going yet. It is still a goal for the future, but more like 2-years away. I would needs someone to purchase the B&B outright and give me a nine month reprieve of no mortgage payments and a remodelling stipend before I would even consider such a project. It took me about 9-months to get Your Private Adobe going once I moved it, and it needed no remodelling! I almost exhausted my savings; that was scary and I don't want to go through that worry ever again. December 1st was my one year anniversary, but I didn't officially open until August 1st, 2008. Your Private Adobe has come a long way in a short period of time.

How do I make my dreams come true?

Another busy week. My friend Danny from Denver arrived earlier in the week. We had a lovely visit with another friend, lots of wine, fun, and dinner at Antiquities. My favorite restaurant in ABQ. I love the Filet Mignon! I also had Danny, the friend who found the property for me, and a girlfriend who has owned B&B's in the past all look at the property for sale. It is my dream, but the reality is how am I going to get financing or funding? They all agreed it is a gem with lots of possibilities. It would be a awesome opportunity for an angel investor. My problem is start-up costs. I know how to make money. I can envision it becoming a small country club and me selling limited memberships to CLUB ADOBE. I can imagine my guests coming over several times a month just to relax, sit in the hot tub, lounge by the salt pool, or swim laps; in addition to monthly spa treatments. I guess those who have money thrive when the economy is down. Especially when you can purchase distressed properties that will be worth a fortune when the economy turns around. The four of us had a business luncheon after the meeting at High Noon. I love the margaritas there too!

My networking group, TNT, had our holiday party at my place last night. It was a small turn-out, about 16-people, but we had a blast. Especially the White Elephant part of the party.

I'm now getting ready for another Couples' Spa Session. This will be their second time in weeks and his third visit. I asked he if she would prefer I massage her this time so she can try out my massage. She said she would come alone and try out my magical hands. In the meantime, she said, "I put her husband to sleep". He is constantly thinking and can't turn his head off of business, until he comes to Your Private Adobe. I guess it's a compliment when I can put a client/guest to sleep!

Quiet day at the adobe

Yippie.....I finally got my new desk and a beautiful Oriental Armoire that was slightly used off Craiglist. I also purchased a used, custom made library shelf. I really appreciate the craftsmanship. No screws or nails were used and it fits together like a puzzle. Now if I can figure out how to paint it, it's been urethaned so that might be difficult. If it were painted red it would look awesome. I hired Erika from my networking group as my Personal Assistant to help me with this project. She did an awesome job and I hope to use her for more projects as I can afford her services.

I had the day off, yet was still very busy. Met a friend for an extended breakfast and had a handyman to help with a couple of projects around the house. With this large of a house, I need help! Some days I just need to let my hands rest too.

I went shopping today and got a new pair of casual boots. Size 5 1/2 is hard to find so the selection is limiting!

I have my dear friend coming from Denver soon. I see Danny almost once a month and I really enjoy my visits with him. We have dinner plans at Antiquities.

It's been another busy week for me. I had several days off and three 14-hour + days. I love it. My clients are going away very happy. I finally got to see 2-ladies the concierge had sent from one of the nicer hotels downtown. They were from the South and absolutely raved about Your Private Adobe. It was one of their birthdays and she said it was her best birthday ever. I really do go out of my way to provide that personal service. I offered them champagne from my personal stash as a birthday gift. And even took them one by one to St Clair's for dinner afterwards. I hated for a taxi to have to pick them up for such a short trip. The birthday girl commented that she felt like she had entered the home of a goddess. I guess because of all of my female nude art I have been collecting for 20+ years. Some clients I haven't seen for months, even years have come out of the woodwork. Didn't have much time for any socializing, just pure hard work this week. I went to see my intuitive counselor today. I haven't seen her since May. She said some interesting things about my life.

Drying rose petals

Yesterday I was swamped, and today it was quiet. I had one of those nights where I tossed and turned and was too excited to turn my brain off to sleep. I question where I get my energy sometimes, and remind myself I get it from the earth. I actually get re-charged when I give massages and have learned to harness that energy. It is a spiritual practice for me. A guest last night said my massage produced some unusual sensations and thoughts. She commented it was, "earthy and native". Not sure if that was a good thing or not for her. hehe

I went to Synergy Networking Meeting for lunch today. I couldn't believe it, there were over 40 people there. It was really different but fun and I met some interesting people. Even though my business is good, I still have to remain in that marketing mode.

I was suppose to go to the Best Of Burque hosted by Albuquerque Magazine with my best friend tonight. She ended up cancelling on me at the last minute. That's okay, I was tired and had lots of projects to do around the house instead. There is always the never ending loads of laundry! Made a pot of green chili stew too. It was a weird recipe and totally different from what I usually make. I needed to clean out the pantry and the fridge.

My kitchen looks like a florist! I'm am drying dozens of beautiful rose petals I use for the foot soaks and baths. The scent is intoxicating and loving.

Where to get a PBJ?

I saw a guest for the 4th time within a month. Obviously he likes my massage, atmosphere and the amenities I offer. He booked for an extended massage and wanted to spend pre and post massage time soaking. He was extremely stressed out due to having to lay off some employees later that day. Since it was during the lunch hour, from 11:30-1:30, he asked if I could make him a PBJ. That's a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for those readers who do not know. I said I would come up with something. So while he was showering and getting re-dressed, I whipped up a grilled ham & cheese sandwich and a salad for him. I think I have a client for life now! It's that personal service I provide that is rarely found in our day and age. It's one reason that makes Your Private Adobe so special and unique! Maybe I should start offering this on the menu. I can purchase a sandwich and salad at a nearby store so I don't have to worry with the hassles of being a caterer! Besides, I can't compete with Karen, my chef! I know she can't come deliver just one sandwich anyway.

Property shopping

I had a nice Sunday. Got to see one of my favorite clients this afternoon. He even brought me some home-made green chili stew. It was yummy! He is so fun, engaging and a joy to massage. I actually had him quiet for a few minutes. hehe A rarity for him, I know. He is bringing his wife for their 37th Anniversary toward the end of the month. I'm excited. I'm sure she is a special lady! I have the sweetest clients. This week I have been given a wonderful bottle of Carmenera wine from Chili, an artist made me some silver earrings and the client today brought me green chili stew. Thank you so much! Who needs to date when I have such sweet clients. Just kidding.

I have met some incredible people the last few months. They all want to see me succeed. I have been talking about my 2-year goal to either buy the property next door, or find a place so I can offer overnight lodging and have more meeting space. A mentor of mine called and insisted he show me a property for sale. It's not far from here. It is running already as a B&B with a wedding Chapel on-site, 4-bdrm, 6-baths, 7-fireplaces, mother-n-law quarters, 1-acre of land, salt swimming pool, stables for horses, and lots of beautiful outdoor space. It's a great price, but it does need a lot of work. I will need to find an angel investor. My estimate is that it would take one year from purchase to get it open. I would be able to do both. Still operate Your Private Adobe here while I coordinate projects at the new place and do a total renovation. Now all I need is the money. This is a much better price than here. I will need in the $700-$800k range (to include total renovation and start-up costs, depending on zoning and if I added on right away or waited. So I am sending out to the universe my dreams, wishes and desires. I'm planting the seed. I love the space here, but have known all along it will only be a short term venture. I'm amazed how far and how quickly I have already come with Your Private Adobe. After eight years of having this vision..............I'm here, but I still want more!

New Menu coming soon for Your Private Adobe Day Spa in Albuquerque

I had 2-cancellations today, so it was disappointing but nice to have the unexpected day off. A girlfriend/business acquaintance came over to give me a demo of a new cutting edge product she is selling. It makes us look younger!!!! This gadget will be on my new menu soon as an "add-on". So we drank a lot of wine and girl talked.

I worked on the new menu so hopefully it will be on the website by the end of the week. Just a soon as my web mister can get it done. I have added many new things. One is CLUB ADOBE. A monthly membership program with lots of advantages and incentives. I am also working with B&B, hotels and Inns along the Rio Grande corridor to offer overnight packages along with the spa treatments. I have also added 1/2 day packages with more leisure time and a lunch included. Additionally is add-ons such as body wraps, face treatments, exotic baths, etc.

I sat in the hot tub this evening. I was able to get the PH balanced for the hot tub. No more yucky foam! This is my first time to own a hot tub. I'm realizing it does take due diligence on the maintenance.

Thanksgiving here and gone!

Had a lovely Thanksgiving Day with my 2-best friends. I spent the day in the kitchen. Whew.......hard work, but fun!

I had a VIP client over for another visit. He and his wife had come over a few days earlier for a couples session and loved Your Private Adobe. He wanted to try the Pichichil, full body oil treatment. His holiday trip got delayed so it gave him more time for R&R here. It was one of those sessions where what could go wrong, went wrong. But he never knew it. It started with the hot tub. The water was extra foamy! I thought he peed in the tub or spilled beer in it. (he brought his own) I had a bit of an equipment malfunction witht the Pichill, but managed to pull it off too. I only got oil in his eyes once. Hey, it's healthy oil. hehe Then the body polish got over heated in the warmer and melted! I had to improvise quickly. Once again, he never knew and was snoring loudly on the table. He even tipped me generously!

I have bought some used furniture, a beautiful rustic 8-foot long dining table that seats eight guests. I also purchased an interesting book shelf. Not sure where to put it just yet, I pick it up on Monday. Next on the list is more dining room chairs, a new desk and armoire for the tv!

I really need to work on my menu. It's in the works, really! I've just been too busy to make changes. Patience with me, please.

It is the season for giving thanks! I am so blessed and thankful for the wonderful life I have and the awesome guests who come to see me. I saw one couple over the weekend who have traveled the world visiting spas. They raved about us and said we are by far the best of anything they have ever experienced. More couples sessions booked. New things forthcoming

Participated in a networking event at the Roadrunner Food Bank last night. It was a small but fun event. I enjoyed the tour and plan to volunteer as I can. It always feels good to give back to the community.

I booked 3-couples packages this week for the weekend and future! These are so fun for me. My friend and massage therapist,"A" will assist for one of them over the weekend. When I started this business I was surprised that most of my clients have requested another female therapist verses a male to assist me. I had planned to use him more often. We've been friends from Denver for 5-6 years.

Saw the movie 2012 tonight. It was hokie but fun, and a very long movie!

I'm searching for another dining room table. I want one that is slightly used that can double as a conference/dining table. I want it small enough for intimate couples dining inside so they won't feel lost at large table. But I want it large enough, with leafs to seat 8-12 people! Craigslist is a great place to look for used furniture! I'm on a budget though. I also need a large screen TV and desk, which are on my shopping list.

Ojo was a much needed blast!

I had a great time at Ojo Caliente. I have been going there for almost 20-years and it's been fun to see it grow from a very rustic spa to now a well respected hot springs resort. The new cottages/casitas are awesome. I rarely get a good massage, but I look at the overall experience. I am a firm believer that when a therapist gives massages all day, one appointment after another, you are not going to get a very good massage. You can feel the lack of love! The restaurant has greatly improved too. It was packed on a Saturday night. I love the new wine bar! I thought we were in a recession. Some businesses are recession proof. I think Your Private Adobe is a good example. People will still spend money on luxuries. Thank you Carsten for taking me to Ojo Caliente!

I am working on some menu changes. I am now offering THE BASICS. It is an 80-minute massage without the foot soak but time is given to enjoy and soak your bones in the outdoor hot tub. This will be priced at $135. I am also developing some "add-ons" you can order on site to upgrade your spa package. I'll talk more about them later in another entry.

Last night I went to the ABQ Museum to hear a talk on Chaco Canyon. It was put on by the ABQ Archaeological Society and was standing room only. I think I was the youngest person there. I enjoyed it very much. I need to go to Chaco! It's on my list. If I could do it all over again, I would have studies archaeology!

WOW, busy but good

WOW, It's been a busy couple of weeks. Luckily I have gotten in some ME time. I saw Michael Jackson's, This Is it, so sad for me to see! Visited with friends over dinner and a video, "Transformers", so silly but fun. Did training for Shirodhara and Pizhichil with some of my independent contractors. Had a party at my place tonight with Synergy Networking, a book signing and exchange. My friend and BOM (Business Optimization Manger) showed up to promote her book 'Refraction". Jan is an amazing woman. She cooked lunch for me the other day, boy was I impressed. I can't wait to read her book. The event was more of a social than anything. Talked about aromatherapy at my Tuesday morning Networking lunch meeting, The Networking Team. So besides all of this, I have had plenty of clients to keep me busy. Once again, there are times I have to turn down work as there are not enough hours in the day. I have had some returning friends I haven't seen in a while who have reconnected with me. I am jammed packed on Friday and am taking off to Ojo Caliente on Saturday for the night.

Lauching New Menu Soon

No reason to not write in a week, honestly, I just forgot. I had my client friend from Denver over last weekend and the first part of the week. We had a nice and relaxing visit, as usual. I adore him and am so appreciative of our friendship.

I was busy with returning friends all week. They are the backbone of Your Private Adobe. Got some marketing projects done that I have not had time to do in a month. Working on revamping the menu. Interviewed another therapist, one who has more background in energetic healing and Ayurveda. Working on a video tape, sort of a virtual tour and a video of some of my unique treatments. I need to write the script. Urgggh.....maybe I can get my voice audio taped then have the narrator write the script from what I say so I don't have to type. I hate typing.

I have added Monthly Specials to the menu. For November, the focus is on Pumpkin and Spice. People keep telling me I need to also focus more on the healing aspects I provide, not just he pampering, relaxation and luxury. I am coming up with a 10-series treatment program for people with discomfort; utilizing all of the therapists skills who work with me. More non-traditional massage therapies such as Polarity, Ayurveda, Light Therapy, Chakra Balancing, Cranial Sacral, Yoga, Raindrop Therapy and more. The 10-series program will help clients with Fibromyalgia, Parkinson's, injuries, back pain, arthritis, insomnia, depression, fatigue, grief, etc.

It's Halloween, I'm off to have a home-made Greek Dinner with my neighbor and a good friend of hers.

You know it's busy when I don't have time to write in my blog. It's been a great couple of weeks. Feast or famine though. Not much scheduled for next week.

I am enjoying the new Softub. I accidentally used a sponge with some cleaning chemicals on it and it messed-up the PH balance of the tub. So I had a few days of scum and foamy water until I could get it balanced out. I finally have it warm enough too. I bought a "disco ball" for it and it is so cute. I like the soft flashing lights verses the strobe. The strobes make me dizzy!

I'm seeing more and more couples and I believe this will be Your Private Adobe's niche market for the best Couple's Spa Experience in Albuquerque. Everyone has been blown away with the atmosphere, the service, the treatments and the entire spa experience. All guests have rated us as 5-stars! I feel a good part of the experience is using therapists who have a passion for their work. They are not massaging one client after another all day long. When you do that kind of massage volume, you begin to go through the motions and not care about what you are doing. For a massage to be an exceptional one, you need to massage with love, care, passion and a nurturing capacity.

I have another friend from Denver coming on Sunday for a couple of days. He has been coming pretty regularly the last year and I always enjoy his company. He was one of my original clients from Denver and I have been seeing him for 8-years now. When you see a client for this long, it becomes more of a friend relationship verses a client/therapist one. We are great friends now and I cherish the relationship.

I met with my next door neighbor this week. He would really like to sale 2-lots located next to me. If I only had the money, Your Private Adobe would be turned into a beautiful compound of spa space, mini-casitas for overnight lodging, lovely outdoor space and hot tubs and beautiful meeting space for small intimate gatherings to large weddings. But I'm talking about a $1.2 million dollar investment. Maybe an angel investor will come my way! It is my goal for the future.

Doing More Couples Sessions Including Dinner Al Fresco

I'm doing more and more couples sessions! I think word is getting out what a great package I offer. We saw two young couples celebrating birthdays last week. There friends had told them about Your Private Adobe. Apparently both sets have quite a few friends who frequent spas. I hate to brag, well not really..... I have been hearing from my guests that my services, atmosphere and treatments are better than Hyatt Tamaya and Ten Thousand Waves! Both are very well known and respected spas. Now that's exciting news for me. The new hot tub, and the atmosphere in the backyard are a huge bonus. The guests are enjoying the chef's food too. She is an awesome cook. It's hard to find home-made food these days. I've tried her salsa and pinto beans when she made a New Mexican Dinner and her Beef Wellington another night. Yummy!

I finally got my second Shiro Pot and can now do "His and Her Shirodhara" treatments too. Or this is a good package for girlfriends coming in for a day at the spa. The Shiro Pot is a special, custom designed pouring and heating system for the Shirodhara.

I met with a marketing professional over the weekend. He gave me a couple of good ideas but overall, not much more than I already knew. Meanwhile I turned down 4-guests, who I had seen before to spend the day with him. Sometimes I need to clone myself!

I had a Buzz Networking Luncheon at my house today. It was a great marketing opportunity. Everyone was in awe of the adobe. I prepared all the food. We had shrimp pasta, turkey wraps, California Spicy Rolls, Chicken Salad, Pine Nut Hummus, fresh fruit and lots more! Then I saw a returning client on the spur of the moment. I rarely do that.

Proud new owner of a Hot Tub

I've been too busy to write in my blog all week. Busy is a good thing! I'm now a proud new owner of a Softub! I had it on order for weeks and kept calling to find out when it would be delivered. Then finally I called and they said, "we can have it to you in an hour". I wasn't expecting that. They first delivered the tub then had to come back to deliver the redwood decking. He said I needed to remove the gravel and put down sand. So I got some huge blisters on my hand raking away the gravel, then hauling 50-pounds bags of Play Sand was another chore. I must have called them 10-times while setting it up with questions. It looks great, it's not totally level, but most people will never know. But darn it, I did it all by myself! I even hung up outdoor curtains around it to give more privacy. I had them left over from my last outdoor courtyard. I still need to order 0n-line a couple of more curtains. They are extra long so the stores don't carry them. Couples especially are loving the spa treatments, the privacy, the catered dinners, the outdoor lounging area and now the hot tub at Your Private Adobe.

An evening of perfection

Well over a month ago, I made my first appointment for a Couple's Day Spa Session to include Fine Dining at Your Private Adobe. It was for a couple in SFO, CA. The gentlemen had made the appointment as a surprise for his wife's birthday. We talked frequently throughout the month. I took on the role as Concierge for his pre-planning of their stay in ABQ.

The night finally arrived. I was excited and nervous. The guests were almost an hour late. At first I was getting extra anxious and upset as the thought of being stood up always wanes on my mind. The additional therapist and the personal chef were also here, and we were all trying to wait patiently. We drank a little wine before they arrived.

What a delightful couple! We admired their deep and devoted love and affection for one another, and how they socialized with all of us. I feel the highlight of their evening was just lounging in the Moroccan Tent and dinner over a bottle of wine and in their robes. Where else can you enjoy gourmet dining in your comfy robe, other than at home or for room service in a nice hotel? What decadence! They commented throughout the night how wonderful and unique my service and atmosphere are, how awesome the adobe is decorated, how great the treatments are and how delicious their Beef Wellington tasted. They said they would write reviews where ever the could about Your Private Adobe and recommend me to all of their friends and co-workers. They said, "we are going to send so much business your way". The birthday girl has a new VP Position in ABQ, and she will be commuting here 3x per week. I was exhausted, but so inspired and empowered that my service could mean so much to this couple!

Dinner Package & Spa Treatments for ABQ Couple's

When was the last time you kissed your lover, gazed at them in the eyes, said how beautiful they are, and told them that you love them? When was the last time you cuddled under a throw, smooched on the couch and held hands with your lover? To me, these are simple pleasures of life, but so often we don't take time to indulge. For whatever reason, we just don't do enough of this. I believe the world would be a happier place if more couples just snuggled and communicated! I really feel that in this busy and hectic world in which we live in today, so many couples don't have time to spend with one another. They are negligent in having any quality time alone. Next simultaneous body polishes and massages, and a chance to shower together. Then you'll have a couple of other options. You can spend time alone as a couple in the adobe. Maybe you'll want to cuddle on the "indoor lounger" for two, or perhaps you'll want to go outside in the Moroccan Tent for a little whimsical pleasure all light up in the evening sky. Or maybe you'll want to soak in the outdoor hot tub. Your other option is to order in a advance a private, catered dinner served in courses. Chef Karen will prepare your dinner while you are getting spa treatments. In good weather, you'll dine Al Fresco. Or if your not a fan of outdoor dining, you may use the adobe's private dining room. You'll still be given time to indulge in the above activities, plus enjoy a delicious dinner too. It's Friday

I picked up a new client yesterday. I think he will be a great addition to my regular network of massage clients. Once again, I am so blessed to have such a wonderful network of returning friends.

Tried to see the Balloon Fiesta Glodio last night, but was running too late. Went to dinner at El Pinto's instead with my dear "drinking buddy" and close friend.

I spent the morning with the Business Optimization Manager for our first meeting. What a little dynamo. We had a great visit and brainstorming session discussing various possibilities and the best areas to market my business. I feel she is going to be a great addition to my network of friends, marketeers and business associations. I wish I could afford to pay her a hefty annual salary as I feel she is worth it. Luckily, she has other business clients, but will be taking me under her wing. She did say, of all of her clients, I am probably one of the most business savvy. As my business increases I will make sure she is taken care of financially. I am a honest and fair person to everyone in my life. If I say I am going to do something, I do it.

I am getting ready for another Couple's Spa and Dinner session tomorrow night. I'm excited as I have had a lot of communication with the male part of the couple. This is a birthday surprise for his wife. They have been in town from the West coast for the Balloon Fiesta.

What's a BOM?

Another busy week, but mostly with networking and marketing. Client wise, it has been slower this week. Tonight I went to the ABQ Visitors & Convention Bureau monthly mixer, then later I went to the Q Bar for more networking. I met some interesting business owners.

Last night I had a friend over and we drank a lot. A bottle of wine, then I had margaritas. Whew.....I am out of shape for drinking and staying up late. I guess I need to live the spa and healthy life! But damn, I had so much fun! It's fun to be bad, but I felt it this morning.

I am meeting with a BOM on Friday. What's a BOM? A Business Optimization Manager!
There are so many directions I can take my business and we are going to find out which is the best for me to reach my long term dreams and goals.

Women, Wine & Networking Party, Shirodhara Training

My oh my, Ive been too busy to write. A world wind of a week. Lots of clients, marketing campaigns and training. I had close to 40-ladies show up for Women, Wine and Networking party. It was a huge success. Word is getting out about how special of a place Your Private Adobe is!

I had an expert come in to teach three therapist I plan to use how to administer Shirodhara. They loved it. One had time to stay to receive the treatment from me. We talked during the session and it was quite tutorial. She said she enjoyed it. The next day this person came to my Wine, Women and Networking Party. She looked like a new woman. She had the Shirodhara glow. Her eyes were bright and clear, her face looked younger and her hair was shiny. She told everyone at the party how wonderful the treatment was. She said her neck and head no longer hurt from a fall a few days earlier. Her black eye was gone. I always tell people how relaxing Shirodhara is, so it is nice to hear stories how fabulous the treatment was for my clients. Several other ladies were at the party who have also received my treatment and they too had wonderful stories to share with other women.

I did manage to take a day or so off. I went to the Greek Festival and a movie with a friend. We also spent the night in the Moroccan Tent. It was fun and a nice cool, crisp and clear evening.

It's bedtime and I am beat, again!

Couple's massage and anniversary celebration in Albuquerque

Whew. I’ve been a busy lady the last few days. I feel like I am a laundry and spa attendant, the housekeeper, a massage therapist, the marketing director, guest relations manager and office assistant. I wear many hats!

I did my first couple's massage today. I've given a ton of 4-handed ones. Can you believe I've been giving massages for 8-years and I was so nervous? It turned out really well and they loved it. They were celebrating their anniversary!

It's all about timing to make things run smoothly. From lighting all the candles, dimming the lights, making sure the music is the right volume and speakers on in every room, heating up the stones, setting out fresh water with lemon slices, icing down juice and bottled waters, getting the body polish stuff warm, heating towels, making sure the massage beds are made up just right in layers for multiple treatments, all products out and ready, to having the water just warm enough but not too hot for the foot soaks to numerous other minute details. It's about focus and intention to give a good treatment. It takes a lot to prepare oneself mentally, physically and emotionally. Skills are secondary in my opinion. I am successful in what I do because I have the genuine desire to give my clients the utmost care and attention.

Massage is my passion

It's been busy couple of weeks with more than just networking. I actually have seen clients. Many who are returning friends. I love my returning clients. They have been so good to me and have helped me get to where I am today. I recently was told I give the best massage on the planet, and this comes from a busy world traveller who gets a lot of massages. Another new client today wrote this:

"Before I get back to reality, I want to thank you so much for the wonderful massage earlier today. I will definitely be making another appointment very soon.

I was extremely impressed with your home and other options and will spread the word in any way that I can. I meant to ask you for the postcard that you mentioned, or a business card. But, I got sidetracked! I can get some next time I see you.

Counting my blessings everyday

One bad thing about working out of your home. You have to keep your house immaculate. There can't be days that you just say, "screw it" and be a slob. Well, maybe on days when you are expecting no guests.

Business has finally picked up, whew, it's a good thing. I am still thankfully seeing mostly returning friends, but have been getting more and more new business. I was starting to go through my cash reserves quickly. Thankfully I have a good portion of my business expenditures purchased, but I still need a hot tub and some other things. I'm waiting on an angel investor to come my way. I want it bad enough and it will happen. I have lived my life on a positive note and have been very fortunate and blessed. We get what we give in life. We get back from the universe what we give. I count my blessings everyday.

Couples Massage ABQ, Trial Run on Dinner Menu

I had a dear friend in town from Denver, CO. We have known each other for years. Now that my new couples dinner packages are underway, I wanted to use him out as a guinea pig. Earlier in the day we worked on adding additional lighting to the large tree outback and moved a small table from the front patio to the back for us to dine around. We trimmed limbs, and set the yard up nicely for company. I hired the personal Chef I am using for the new service. Two of my best friends also joined us, but they had eaten already. We had a lovely evening! Good food, wonderful ambiance and fun conversations. Here's the menu: Green Chili Chicken Soup, Stuffed Chicken Breast, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Strawberries and Puff Pastry w/chocolate sauce. We worked out all the kinks so we'll be ready to provide the best possible service and food for my real guests. Later we lounged in the Moroccan Tent. It was fun, and relaxing but my only complaint.....it was a cloudy night so there was no stars to view. We drank lots of wine and enjoyed each others company. Gosh, I adore this man! So the total Couples Odyssey package lasts at least 3-hours. Approximately 1 3/4 hours of the time is for spa treatments, (the foot soak, the body polish and the Your Private Adobe Signature Massage). So the rest of the time you can enjoy dining and lounging in the tent. I hope to have a hot tub by the fall. That will really be the icing on the cake both for me and for my guests. I'm so excited! I've interviewed 4-wonderful potential massage therapists to help me with the business on an independent contractor basis. They all will be great additions to Your Private Adobe! All I need now is more clients!

Today I got signed up with a film resource company. They provide referrals to the filming industry. The adobe may even get to be used as a film set. That would be fun and profitable. More brochures need to be ordered. I went though 250 over sized postcards in 3-weeks.

I have found a delightful personal chef to do my catered couples dinners. We have a great menu lined up. Almond Crusted Tilapia, Stuffed Chicken Breast, a New Mexican Combo Plate, Beef Wellington and tapas are all the menu choices! The Couple's Spa and Dinner Package lasts approximately 3-hours. Sick kitty, and manifesting my dreams

Just curious if anyone has discovered my blog yet? I had a pretty good following when I use to write elsewhere.

I had to take my cat to the vet today. He is okay, but it always so so upsetting when they can't tell you what is wrong with them. He got 2-enemas and is still one pissed off kitty!

I have had one busy week and today I had no appointments The one I had got cancelled due to an illness and the other one, I cancelled because of the cat. I am usually very dependable and can count in 8-years the times I have needed to cancel an appointment.

I have been working on my business plan. I have an appointment with my banker next week. I am trying to get a little more money to tide me over so I can do some additional improvements on the adobe. I've gone through my reserves quickly! I really want a hot tub now. It will be such a nice edition to the couples massages as well as the normal massage packages. The Moroccan tent is a huge success and this will just add to the entire experience. I am also going to be offering catered, private, served dinners too. I just have so much going on, it's exciting.

We'll I'm beat and going to go to bed early. I continue to read more on tantra, a lifestyle for me of conscious awareness and the path to enlightenment. I am trying to manifest my dreams through the opening of my chakras, meditation, prayer and intention. I read at night.

Full day of marketing, bug cupcakes were yummy!

Whew..........got up at 6 am to get ready for my breakfast guests. I had re-arranged the room the night before to accommodate the breakfast meeting. There were a total of nine of us, me and members of SMBA (Southwest Business Alliance). I am members with one of their members from another group and they needed a place to host their meeting. I made some good contacts. The 'bug" cupcakes were adorable and were to highlight the speakers business, Real Pest Solutions. It is a natural and organic pest control company.

I then interviewed another massage therapist. She is a hoot and I can't wait to work with her. More ladies came to see the adobe later this afternoon. Then the finale for the day was I signed up for the ABQ and Conventions Bureau. I'm anxious to start participating in that!

My head is spinning, so much going on

I have to get up at 6 am for a 9-person breakfast meeting at the adobe. I had no idea people would want to use my space for small business meetings. It is a beautiful venue, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised! Much more relaxing than a hotel banquet room.

I was ready for bed at a decent hour and noticed one of the fancy massage table covers had oil all over it. So I had to rip off the linens and do laundry at 11 pm. Urgggh..........

Still doing laundry but going to kick back now till it dries! I'm beat, I have not stopped moving all day. I saw a client today for the fifth time in a month! It means so much to me when clients enjoy my work.

Weekend Company

I was busy with out of town company all weekend! I even cooked dinner Sunday night, a pasta dish. I make the best red sauce. Yummy!

Monday night we went to "High Noon" in Old Town. (3) little margaritas and a delicious New Mexican entree made us happy campers.

My weekend company was a guest and client I have been seeing for years. I gave him the Your Private Adobe Signature Massage and had planned Shirodhara afterwards. He gave me the perfect compliment, he was snoozing on the table. So we never made it to the Shirodhara pour.

I saw a new client who wanted to spend time in the Moroccan Tent after the treatment. I think he enjoyed himself but I was surprised he would spend an hour outdoors during the heat of the day!

Your Private Adobe truly is a special place. I am having more and more requests to use my space for small meetings.

I'm busy networking. Today another luncheon. We learned about LinkedIn. Guess I need to get on par with the social networking aspects of our day and age. Darn it, I need an assistant!

Too much electricity and massage

I caught up with a client I had not seen in about a year! I love it when I see returning friends. They know me and what to expect, so there is no tension in meeting someone new. We got caught up on our lives then the pampering began! I tend to have more of a friendly, personal service than most therapist in the massage world. But then again, I am not just selling an expensive massage, but a personal service.

I had some major electrical work done yesterday. Yikes, I had not budgeted for that. I use a lot of different heating elements with my spa treatments, and occasionally the breaker would blow! Now that I am starting to offer couples sessions, it means I would use more elements, so I had to get this fixed. I also had additional outlets installed for outside. I'm planning ahead for the hot tub! My goal for the fall!

I had a couple wanting a session tonight and I could not find anyone to assist. I have men therapist lined up to help, they all were away for the weekend. But not enough females to help with couples massage. Gosh, I hated turning down the business. I also lost out on a gift certificate opportunity due to the electrical issues I was having. I missed her call when the electricity was turned off and she was down the street. I did not get her message until hours later. I apologized profusely, but I have not heard back from her. The perils of opening a business alone. I do hope to have help soon as business warrants! By the fall a part-time employee. Because I offer a private and personal business, I cannot advertise my address. I live on a busy street and I don't want people coming to the door thinking it is a walk-in business. My second entry into blogspot. I'm still trying to figure out Twitter and my followers. I'm curious how someone can follow thousands of people. I don't quite understand it all. I prefer to write a real sentence! But..........alas, I'll continue to twitter!

I thought I would write about tantra and what it means to me. It is a complex word. Tantra is a path to enlightenment, like Buddhism. It is about conscious awareness and living in the moment. It is about unconditional love. Tantra is about movement of energy. It's an energetic connection between the earth, one another; the masculine male and the feminine female, the god from within us, and reaching the divine above. For me, giving a massage is quite spiritual and a connection with one another. I've been told I am a Shaman, an angel, a gift from god, and a truly talented woman. Staying focused on the moment makes a huge difference in how the client feels when being touched. Have you ever been massaged and you just kind of said to yourself, "ewww, what is this person doing"? It's as though they are thinking about paying bills, or what they are going to do over the weekend, and not about your care and well being. You can sense it and really feel the difference when someone is totally present. Tantra is about being totally present in everyday life. Whether it is alone and enjoying the every day activities of life or having sex with your lover. Take time to "Stop and smell the roses"! Savor every bite you take. Listen to the birds sing and cherish the simplicity. Feel the wind against your face. Smell the moisture in the air from a rain fall. While being massaged, notice the therapist's touch and how it feels to your skin. Smell the exotic oils, listen to the ambient music. Be aware, and feel alive! Pay attention to your breath. Know that with each breath you take it brings life, love and nourishment to every cell and fiber in your body. Every time you exhale, let go of what no longer serves you, and all the stress and negativity in your body and mind. So that with each new breath you take, you are bringing new life and love to your body!

So what makes my massage so unusual is I use these spiritual modalities and philosophies but I mix them with real knowledge of physiology. So it is a blending of the old and the new. The concrete and the abstract. For me massage is an artistic science! Appreciating and getting regular massages and simplifying your life can help bring bliss back to you!

My First Blog Post

Hello out there. My first entry. I use to blog when I was in a different profession. Maybe some of my old fans will stumble on to me.

I have a new business I am excited to tell you about! It's called YOUR PRIVATE ADOBE. It is a home based relaxation and massage retreat located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The venue is a luxury and private setting in a custom southwest adobe.

I'm so blessed to live here and doing what I love the most. Massage is my passion! It is sensual, and an artistic science. I combine several modalities such as Swedish, Polarity, Lomi Lomi, Ayurveda and the spiritual and breathing aspects of Tantra.

I'll write more and talk about what these modalities mean.
